Luc Cardyn

Luc has had a rewarding and successful banking career with the world-renowned financial institution, BNP Paribas. He first started as a Fixed Income Trader and took on multiple roles in various locations over 37 years before becoming the CEO & Country Manager of Vietnam and, subsequently, Indonesia.


Luc began his career as a Fixed Income Trader with Paribas in Brussel in 1982. In his third year, he moved to Paris to head the Euro Currency Bond Trading desk. In 1987, he was relocated to Tokyo to co-head the Fixed Income Trading team.

He returned to Paris in 1989 to head the Primary Bond Dealership (SVT) desk. Later, he took over Paribas Paris bond syndication and was then appointed as the Global Head of bond syndication for Paribas Group based in London.


In 2008, Luc was handpicked to spearhead the Vietnam market. As the CEO & Country Manager, he developed BNP Paribas activities in Ho Chi Minh City and obtained a bank license in Hanoi.


With a proven track record in Vietnam, Luc moved to Indonesia, the largest country in South East Asia. In 2015, he was appointed as the CEO and Country Manager. He was responsible for expanding the bank, including liaising with the regulator in obtaining new banking licenses, beefing up the bank infrastructure and driving customer acquisitions.
